kolam-ayer:~$ make something

A neighbourhood
for people who make.

Kolam Ayer Makers is a free, volunteer-run maker group at Kolam Ayer Community Club, Singapore. We gather to take things apart, learn useful skills, and make the next thing a little more interesting.

Make room for curiosity.

Share the good tools.

Leave with something working.

01 / booting now

Linux Foundations

Our first class is a hands-on starting point for people who want to understand the computer in front of them, instead of merely tapping the shiny parts.

student@laptop:~$ learn --by-doing

Not another slide deck.

Linux Foundations is for complete beginners, curious teenagers, and anyone ready to become less afraid of a terminal. Bring a laptop. Expect to type commands, break small things safely, ask questions, and fix them together.

  • Navigate files and folders with confidence
  • Use the shell as a practical everyday tool
  • Meet coding, automation, servers, and open source
  • Build a base for robotics and creative tech projects

No prior experience. No fees. No gatekeeping.

02 / compiling ideas

The roadmap is deliberately messy.

Linux is the first tool on the bench, not the only one. As the group grows, we want to run practical sessions in electronics, AI, robotics, homelabs, automation, and anything else worth learning with other humans in the room.

03 / open a channel

This gets better when you show up.

Want to join a class? Volunteer a skill, a pair of hands, or a half-finished project? Want to fork the idea and run a free maker class in your own CC? Seriously, please do. We would love to compare notes.

Tell us what you are into. There is no wrong entry point.
